Status: Married with two children (aged nine and three and are both in school)

Jack has always had an interest in making custom-made jewellery ever since he was in school, and he started to do it, as a profession in 2004.He is very passionate about creating original creations through his art. In his own words, ‘imitation is limitation’ .His products include: earrings, neckpieces, bracelets and key rings.

He has a small business established and currently employs three artisans in his store for production. One of the greatest strengths about his art is his attention to detail, he is known to make 40 strand neckpieces, and does not tire in making sure he produces the best work. He likes working with natural materials from different parts of the country, like seeds and wood, and he is always exploring to find new materials to use. He designs all the items at his store, getting inspiration from nature and the environment around him.

Working with jewellery is his full time job. With his jewellery business he can afford to educate his family. Jack supports his wife and children with the business and he is very happy that they can afford to live in a decent house that has water and electricity.

Jack has been supplying Bawa la Tumaini (BLT) since 2007, and he finds working with BLT very rewarding, because they have marketed his products very well, exposed his art to new markets and given him big orders that are able to sustain his business. BLT is so far his biggest client.

Jacks aspires to grow his business to a point where he can open a big store in a place like, The Mall at Westlands or in one of the big hotels in Nairobi. This he believes will only happen if he can increase orders for his product .His business has potential to grow, and he can engage more artisans therefore providing employment for others.

Jack hopes he will not only get new clients but that his customers will continue to make orders and support the work he is doing through Bawa La Tumaini.
